Hyper-Local Brewfest- a Local Lovefest Success!

With 35 vendors and 800 Brew Fans, Sustainable Business Network of Massachusetts successfully held the first Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest at the Somerville Armory on June 16, 2012. The Brew Crew tees shared the day’s mission: “Eat Local. Drink Local. Be Local.”

This festival marked the first time that local breweries like Cambridge Brewing Company (CBC), Mystic, Notch, Peak Organics, Slumbrew, Night Shift, Rapscallion, and more got together to present their best collections of brews highlighting local ingredients. Local fine wines and cordials were also in attendance, represented by Zoll Cellars, Coastal Vineyards, Still River Winery, Turtle Creek Winery, Bantam Cider, Bug Hill Farm, and Farnum Hill Cider. Therewere brew-inspired local eats from Taza Chocolate, EH Chocolatier, Five Horses Tavern, Kick*ss Cupcakes, Valicenti Organico, Vermont Smoke and Cure, and Singh’s Roti. The Brewfest also included a fantastic mead vendor – Moonlight Meadery, which one of our event reviewers referred to as “liquid gold.”

Festival attendees, vendors, and the SBN Craft Brew Crew alike were able to enjoy the musical stylings of The Moan and Sam Reid and the Riot Act. The whole event went splendidly and could not have happened without our awesome vendors that kindly donated their time and brews and a great Brew Crew! that kindly donated their time and wares!

Tickets are now on sale for the 3rd Annual Local Craft Brewfest on the HarborPark, where the City meets the sea at the location of the John Joseph Moakley U.S. Courthouse located on the Boston waterfront in Fort Point, Boston. The date is Friday, October 5, 2012 from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and is a prelude to the 3rd Annual Boston Local Food Festival two days later on the Rose Kennedy Greenway, Sunday, October 7, 2012. Come learn, explore, socialize, and network with craft brewers, artisan brews, and local food producers. While celebrating local brews, you can savor live music by local musicians at this lovefest of all things good and true.

SBN's First Hyper-Local Brewfest at Somerville Armory, June 2012

The Somerville Beat ”The T-shirts said it all: Eat local. Drink local. Be local. Local was the word of the night at the Hyper-Local Craft Brew Tasting on Saturday [June 16, 2012] at the Armory on Highland Ave.

Sweetly Serendipity ”This festival was tons of fun, and so yummy – the best kind of festival!

Wine Dine with Us ”The event [...] showcased thirty local breweries, wineries and food vendors. The event was a blast!

Ampersand & Modern Vintage ”This tasting was truly one of the more memorable in the area mixing established microbreweries like Cambridge Brewing Company, Sam Adams, and Narragansett, up-and-comers like Somerville’s own Slumbrew, and the “so happy we’ve just been introduced” to breweries like Nightshift Brewing
