A Boston to New Hampshire Brewery Tour

New England has over 100 craft breweries, including over 2 dozen in New Hampshire alone. Allo Gilinsky, the owner of Pints of Portsmouth, hailed from Northern California, and he was surprised at how many craft breweries he found so close to his new home in Boston.

He found so many great craft breweries in the area, in fact, that Allo Gilinsky decided to start a brewery bus tour, allowing Bostonians to easily visit these breweries and taste the beers without worrying about driving back home under the influence. Porstmouth may be small, but its beer scene isn’t. There is the well-known Smuttynose Brewing, which has been in operation for more than two decades. Then there’s Portsmouth Brewery, Earth Eagle Brewing (a nanobrewery known for brewing gruits and using surprising ingredients like seaweed and chaga mushrooms), and Great Rhythm Brewing, among others.

Founded just over a year ago in February 2015, Pints of Portsmouth’s bus tour conveniently leaves from the Assembly Row T stop in Somerville. Allo provides snacks and plenty of water on the comfortable bus to keep all the guests hydrated throughout the drinking tour. The bus makes it way to Portsmouth and back to Somerville, stopping at 3-4 breweries in Portsmouth and other New Hampshire breweries in the Seacoast region such as Throwback Brewery in Hampton, NH.

You can tell Allo runs this brewery tour because of his love for craft beers. He blogs on Pints of Portsmouth about the newest beer discoveries he finds on his own brew tours, from the Java Porter at Beara Irish Brewing Company or some gruits from Earth Eagle Brewing. You can rest assured that Allo will handpick the best breweries in the area.

Pints of Portsmouth’s regular tours take place on Saturdays and Sundays. Tours are $110 per person and include tastings at all the breweries and lunch at one of the breweries visited. Don’t worry, if you fall in love with one (or more) of the beers you tasted, you are welcome to purchase a growler, bottles, or cans, whichever is available for sale at the breweries.

Pints of Portsmouth is one of the many great sponsors of SBN’s 5th Hyper-Local Craft Brewfest, taking place this summer on June 10th and 11th.  Get your tickets now and don’t miss out on the opportunity to chat with Allo in person!
